BMS has built its reputation retrofitting older equipment and also has a working knowledge of other manufacturers’ components.

  • Gas distribution modifications
  • Substitution of BMS rigid discharge electrodes
  • Sectionalization modifications
  • Increase collecting electrode spacing
  • Rapping system upgrade
  • Controls upgrade
  • Ash removal system modifications
  • Increase collecting area vertically or in the direction of gas flow
  • Power supply upgrades
  • Module expansion – Wet ESP

The poor performance of an air preheater in the power plants is one of the main reasons for higher unit heat rate & is responsible for deterioration in boiler efficiency. Our solutions for air preheater is repairing the leakage of air to the flue gas side & thereby resulting in poor thermal performance.

We apply Non-Destructive Examination which focuses on the critical components which are those whose failure will directly affect the reliability of the boiler.

The critical components can be prioritized by the impact they have on safety, reliability, and performance. These critical pressure parts include:

  • Drums
  • Headers
  • Tubing
  • Piping
  • Deaerators
  • Air openings
  • Flue gas vent system
  • Burners and base
  • Pilot and main burner flames
  • Boiler heating surfaces

  •  Aerosol filters: Remove the filters, wash with detergent to suit the application, inspect and possibly repair plus re-install the Aerosol filters. On re-installation, the technician´s team inspects the integrity of all seals, drains, and so forth.
  • Dust particulate filters: On each visit to site one should log/record all differential pressures across all stages of filters. In the event of any of the filters being at or near the design maximum pressure drop for the system one would replace these filters.

SO3 Plants

BMS strives to improve performance, reliability or to adopt to changing business needs. While in most cases these changes only affect portions of the plant, the result is a virtual new plant with restarted lifecycle. BMS strives to improve performance, reliability or to adopt to changing business needs. While in most cases these changes only affect portions of the plant, the result is a virtual new plant with restarted lifecycle. The main drivers can be separated in three main areas as external requirements, internal requirements such as business needs and maintenance requirements.

Looking at the external requirements a revamp project will in many cases be necessary to comply with changing environmental aspects. These can widely differ depending on plant location and could cover for instance:

  • Reduction in allowable emissions on SO2, SO3 or H2SO4
  • Reduction of allowable noise levels for the plant
  • Energy saving requirements.

Internal requirements are based on management decisions to improve competitiveness of the production facility and will relate in many cases to:

  • Increasing production rate (mostly triggered by up- or downstream   processes),
  • Changing feed stock (eg. higher SO2 tenor in incoming gas for   metallurgical acid plants),
  • Changing products (eg additional products like oleum, SO2, SO3, steam  or energy)
  • Changing product quality requirements (eg. Reduction of Hg or As levels  in product acid) or
  • Decreasing energy consumption
  • Refurbishing of the so3 lances
  • Refurbishing the blower unit
  • Refurbishing the burner unit and the converter
  • Servicing the inlet valves and inspection port
  • Refurbishing the Sulphur metering pump and strainers
  • Screening of the catalyst and topping up to the correct level
  • Servicing the Sulphur receiving tank and inlet and outlet valves  as well as the steam supply line
  • Rigging of the So3 lances and replace with new ones
  • Ducts and Dampers
